Here's a List of All the Drugstore Brow Products That Suck If You're a Blonde

Ah Yes, My Favourite Shade: Cheeto Orange

If you're a blonde on a budget, you probably already know the pain of trying to purchase a product that claims to be "Taupe" or "Blonde," only to discover its orange undertone. By some magical force, the lovely grey-based shade you scraped on the back of your hand has now become a lovely Cheeto-inspired colour when it hits your face.

Like any person trying to save a couple bucks, I like to score those drugstore finds. However, without the benefit of testing, or beauty advice, it can be hard to determine which products are the best, and true to colour.

By no means have I tried all drugstore products, but in my nine-odd years of wearing makeup, I have learned a thing or two. And don't fret, my fair-haired friend, we'll get through this together.

There are many hidden gems in the drugstore eyebrow section, but that is for another article at another time. Let me know in the comments if I missed any avoid-at-all-costs brow products.

And now, without further ado: The Worst Drugstore Eyebrow Products for Blondes.

NYX Microbrow Pencil in 'Blonde' and 'Taupe'

What is probably the most disappointing entry on this list, the NYX Micro Brow Pencil promised to be the cheaper version of Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz. However, both the Blonde and Taupe shades have a decidedly orange colour; although the Taupe shade has a darker orange if that's something you're into.

Milani Easybrow Automatic Pencil in 'Natural Taupe'

Nothing natural here, friends, this is the worst offender. Enter this bad boy into the Horrid Brow Products Hall of Fame. I even took a photo once to send to my brunette friends comparing this pencil on my skin to my Anastasia Beverly Hills DipBrow, and they were shocked. Brunettes have it so easy sometimes. Milani makes some bomb-diggity blushes, but needs to step up their brow game.

L'Oréal Brow Stylist Definer in 'Dark Blonde'

While this isn't the worst blonde eyebrow product out there, it's just not the best. It's still got a slight dark orange undertone. Where it came out the most was in my passport photos. I have orange brows for the next ten years, friends. On the bright side, this pencil might be good for strawberry blondes.

Revlon Brow Fantasy Pencil in 'Dark Blonde'

Update: not dark blonde. This pencil got a lot of hype when it first came out, and still does. Then again, so did (and does) the NYX Micro Brow Pencil. The gel is the worst part, with a solid Tony the Tiger vibe.

NYX 3-IN-1 Brow Pencil in 'Taupe'

Okay, maybe all shades should just stay away from this product altogether. The colour is not the issue with this product, at least not in the same way as the others. The colour is, in fact, super dark. The pencil is alright, but the powder sponge is useless and imprecise. The gel comes off the brush almost black. So no orange here, but plenty else to hate. NYX has so many other amazing makeup products, and they have just launched a Precision Brow Pencil and an Eyebrow Powder Pencil—and both come with a spoolie! I have high hopes, but let me know in the comments if you've tried them yet.

MARCELLE Duo Eyebrow Pro in 'Blond'

No. Just no. Not only is the pencil super orange, almost yellow, but the gel didn't have any tint to it or staying power at all. I have heard rumors swirling around the internet that their other products are great, so maybe they deserve another shot. Their Nano Eyebrow Liner in "Fair Ash Blond" won ELLE Magazine's Eyebrow Products Under $15 award, so it can't be that bad.

Maybelline EYESTUDIO Brow Shaping Micro Pencil in 'Blond'

Again, all shades stay away. This pencil is just not worth the colour payoff. All I can say is BRING BACK DEFINE-A-BROW!
