Disclaimer: This is a first impression based on online viewing only. In other words, I saw it online and recorded my impression based on that first online viewing. It could be either pro-consumeristic or anti-consumeristic. Read to find out how individual palettes make me feel.

If I do have the chance to see the palette physically, then that will be stated. Critiquing for me is not about hating or being negative. Critique for me comes from a positive place of advising brands on how to do better. Different people like different things aesthetically. Different formulas work differently for different people. Grain of salt, people! I can only speak for myself

I actually really like this palette. This brand is on my wishlist, especially for them being Canadian founded (if I am not wrong). But the price point at 56 Canadian dollars (shipping included) puts me on the fence. I can use that 50 dollars at Sephora and Shoppers Drug Mart, and not only get points, but also buy something I really want from each store. The Tactha Water Cream, and my favourite setting spray from Urban Decay (which I will run out of in a week or so) and it’s the only one I use. Plus $10 shipping for me is a bit too much, and yes I do understand from a seller’s perspective of how costly it is. But as a consumer I’ve paid less or similar from international brands (US and Europe alike). And at the end of the day, I have to do what’s best for me. And while I like the palette, I don’t think it would be wisest purchase $$ wise. Yet don’t be too surprised if I do pick it up.

This woman’s formula is so misleading (in a good way) and it’s not even funny. Swatches horribly, builds well, and stays on so long. But with this particular palette it’s now old news and boring. And it’s not even a fall type palette. Plus, there are cheaper alternatives, which work better for some people. Plus, ND does not work for some people at all (different skin types folks). I’ve seen this palette in person and hated the closure mechanism. Then there was that flap with the shadow names on it. The names of the shadow not being on the palette itself bothers me, and at that price point? There’s no excuse for that. Plus the cynical person in me can’t help but think this was a shady business move where “sold out” equals “fear of missing out,” leading to actual selling of the product. I do think ND is an expensive brand, hands down, no matter whether you can afford it or not. But since her new palette, Safari (I believe) is dropping. This does not interest me what so ever.

It’s a known fact that Charlotte Tilbury is not a “persons of colour” friendly brand. Therefore, I refuse to pay that luxury price tag (even for Sephora) for such a brand. But even if that were not the case, I personally dislike quads, I don’t see the point what so ever for these. Because to me as a makeup enthusiast it’s not enough. And if we are going for a minimalist argument, why is someone who supposedly only does minimal makeup spending 70 CAD on makeup? That defeats the purpose of being a minimalist, and is a very weak argument. This particular palette? I have all those four shades in all of my palettes.

I like the brand aesthetic. Sleek, chic, subtle, and rich. It looks luxe. But this palette does not make me want to drop the coin. Because it is something that has been done before. Four gold shimmers, one champagne, and one pink shimmer? It’s not innovative. Plus I don’t like small palettes, generally. They tend to get lost aka go on being unused. But nonetheless Hourglass is something I am on the look out for. This however, is not for me.

I was not aware that Shiseido did eye palettes. They have come out with a range too, which I think is always good. Because people have the option to get the colour story they like. 48 CAD for four shadows is high, because essentially it’s a quad. But the packaging is so smart that it does not feel like a small palette. Unless it is, and it’s simply shown as bigger on the website. I am low key digging it and lusting after it. And if I don’t like it I can always easily return it the very same day and get my money back.

In my book this brand is extremely affordable. They legit have prices similar to drugstore prices but with better looking packaging. I did order this palette because after a discount code it was 15 USD (shipping included). Still waiting for it (it’s based in Hong Kong, so the wait time may be long) we shall see how I feel about it then. Now I know that even drugstore price tags are not affordable for everyone. As I say, makeup is not air. It’s not a necessity. From the reviews, I’ve seen, I am guessing it’ll be lit. The only con? Their website is in dire need of an editor. And this coming from the Queen of Anti-Editing (I hate doing it).

I get the idea and the theme. But could they have not found a different cooler tone that was not purple themed? Okay let’s just throw two trends in together, no matter how in-cohesive they look in the palette. My heard hurts just looking at it. Obviously, will not be picking this up.

This a palette meant for fair people generally. It’s pretty but not for moi. Don’t get me wrong I could use some of the shadows but not all. Let’s move on.

Very subjective reason, the packaging is not my aesthetic. Don’t like beachy tree vibes.

Wait what? Isn’t that the drug store skin care brand. It’s weird, but new in a way. I don’t know about many drugstore skincare brands getting who came up with makeup. Looks likes a cheaper alternative to the Mauve palette by Dose of Colors. Intrigued but not over the top excited. By the way, who is Kerry Washington?

This is so smart. They picked a packaging theme that goes well with the neutral colour theme. Good thing this is an exclusive or I most definitely would be approximately 70 dollars less.
