4 Skin Care Products to Get Rid of That Annoying "Red Face"

Or "Tomato Face", as I Got Called

Tomato face is really not this glamourous so apologies in advance

I know that when I was growing up I really struggled with the idea of being able to cover the redness that constantly appeared on my face, no matter the situation.

  • Cold? Red face.
  • Hot? Red face.
  • Smiling? Red face.

People would speak to me and then comment on the fact that the only possible reason to have a red face would be because I was embarrassed or I had a crush on them(!!). My reply would be of course be "That's just my face!" and watch them look at me trying to understand how it could be so red.

As I got older, I realized that I needed to learn to cover up the redness, because quite honestly, I became embarrassing.

So, I am going to show you the best skincare products that helped me battle "tomato face".

1. Clinique Redness Solutions Daily Relief Cream

This was by far the best product that I used. The only problem is the price, but I never mind spending £41 at Clinique if it can help the red go away. It also takes a while to start working, but once I had used it every night after I had taken off my makeup (personal preference) for a couple of weeks, my face was noticeably clearer and the redness had started to lose some of the neon tint I seem to have developed.

2. Elemis White Brightening Even Tone Lotion

This particular lotion worked on my face the majority of the time. I think after using it a while and it not working and was making it worse was due to the fact that I have an allergy to kiwi, which is one of the ingredients.

However, while it didn't affect my face, it was a lifesaver on warm days because it never "sweated off" like a lot of moisturizers seem to do. It says to use every morning and every evening, but I found that it worked much better when I just did it in the morning and cleansed my face in the evening.

3. Glossier Priming Moisturiser

This is the newest one that I have used. It really does make my skin feel less inflamed, which was the main reason for buying it. It was also a HELL of a lot cheaper than the Clinique one I was using. I must admit that the smell is not the greatest and sometimes it did make me feel a bit sick, but I have gotten over that feature now and have grown to love it.

4. The Honey Mask

And last but not least, The Honey Mask. Super easy to make because it is just honey on your face. Make sure that your face is free from any products and wash with warm water to open up the pores. Slather the honey over the red areas of the face (or all over, if that's what you want) and then leave it for 30 minutes to work its magic. I must add though, please don't use The Honey Mask if the redness is from sunburn because it stings. A LOT. Just rinse off when you're done and you should see the effects. It worked for me!
