I'll only blowout my hair for an event or if I'm going out the entire weekend because I want my hair to look its best. Who doesn't? The first day I blowout my hair, it always looks amazing. My hair looks fresh, shiny, and full of volume! However, when it comes to the following days, my hair slowly starts to look flatter and gets oiler and oiler. Since I have a lot of thin hair, my hair tends to get oily fast and I hate it.

It's almost impossible to keep my hair looking on point throughout the weekend and I'm always trying to find ways to maintain its freshness. I turned to my sister for advice on how to last a couple days extra between shower days because her blowouts stay amazing even on their third day! Despite the fact that she has thicker hair than me (which leads to her hair almost never being oily), she follows a few tips that keep her hair looking fresh and flawless.

After she showed me a few of her secrets, my blowouts last throughout the entire weekend! It can sometimes even stay looking fresh at the beginning of the week. If your weekend is packed with events and you want to keep your hair looking beautiful, follow any of these great tips to make your blowout last longer without having to wash it.

For starters, you want to use the right shampoo and conditioner. It's true, the products you use to wash your hair can take a toll on how your blowouts look. This means that you shouldn’t use products that include a lot of ingredients that weigh your hair down. When you use ingredient-heavy products, your hair will start to get oilier faster, too.

OGX's Weightless Hydration Coconut Water shampoo and conditioner are the best products to wash your hair with before blowing out your hair to keep it looking voluminous. The shampoo and conditioner will drench your dehydrated strands with an ultra-light blend of weightless hydrating coconut water that has nutrient rich electrolytes to make your hair silky and shiny. It's also one of the best shampoos for thinning hair if that's your issue.

Make your topknot loose.

If you intend on putting your hair up throughout the day just to get your hair off of your face, then you should make a loose bun or ponytail. Tying your hair up in a loose topknot is one of the ways to make your blowout last longer because if you make tight updos, you're flattening out your hair and causing your hair to bend.

Most of us want to throw our hair up during the day to do work and leave it down at night. Making a tight bun or ponytail can cause your hair to become oiler fast, too, because your hair is tight against your scalp and the oils from your roots have an easier time getting to your hair.

Protect your hairline when washing your face.

Whenever I'm washing my face, I hate when my facial cleanser gets on or anywhere near my hairline. Not only can product get built up around there, but the water and facial cleanser can ruin and frizz my hairline. Then I started to wear a headband whenever I would wash my face to keep my hair back and protect my hairline.

Wearing a wide headband to avoid getting your hairline wet is one of the best ways to make your blowout last longer. When we want our blowouts to look and stay fresh, it’s important to prevent our hair from coming into contact with water and facial products.

If you've never used dry shampoo before, you better start using it ASAP because this gift from heaven will save you from all of your bad hair days! You shouldn't wash your hair every day but try to last at least three days without washing your hair to preserve your hair's natural oils. In this case, when you want to keep your blowout looking perfect, dry shampoo can help you with that.

Not Your Mother's dry shampoo is definitely my ride or die product that I've been using for years now. Whenever I want to preserve my blowouts, I always reach for my dry shampoo to keep my hair looking its best for a few more days before washing it. This dry shampoo can effortlessly tousle your hair and give off that sexy style even if it’s day three with your blowout. It can fix your flattest and greasiest hair by giving it more volume and concealing the oils in your roots. Plus, it's one of the best dry shampoos to make your hair smell great. Trust me, this specific dry shampoo is ideal for all hair types and it won't let you down on days you need your blowout to look amazing!

Don't run your hands through your hair too much.

Constantly running your fingers through your hair is one of the biggest mistakes you can make when you are trying to avoid oily hair. I know whenever I blowout my hair, I try to avoid playing with my hair too much to preserve its freshness.

Stopping yourself from playing with your hair is one of the most important ways to make your blowout last longer. When you're always playing with your hair and running your fingers through it, your fingers are picking up the natural oils from your roots and dragging them across your hair. If you want to position your hair in a certain way, flip your hair without touching it or don't dig your fingers into your roots.

Don't go over your hair with a blowdryer the following days.

I know whenever I wake up in the morning, my hair will look slightly flat because I slept on it; this is normal. There will be times, though, when I'll go over my hair with a blow dryer just to bring it back to life. Even though my hair will look a bit better, going over it in the morning with a blow dryer can cause it to become oily quicker.

When you're blow-drying your bangs and hair again, the brush that you're using is picking up your hair's natural oils and dragging them everywhere. A better alternative to giving your hair volume in the mornings is whipping your hair back and forth (like Willow Smith) or adding dry shampoo!

Avoid humid places.

Humidity is our worst enemy when it comes to keeping our hair looking fabulous. When it's humid, one step outside can make our hair look like a frizz ball. My hair absolutely hates the humidity and it'll instantly become a mess if I stay outside for less than a minute. Even if I run into my car and run inside, the humidity will still somehow make its way to my hair and ruin the time and effort I put into making my hair look awesome.

These days, whenever it's humid out, I usually wrap a scarf around my head to protect it from the stupid humidity. You can also lift your jacket over your head to preserve your blowout. There are many ways you can protect your hair from the gross humidity, but try to avoid letting your hair make contact with the weather if you want your blowout to stay fresh.

Refrain from working out to prevent sweating.

Lastly, refraining yourself from working out is one of the best methods to make your blowout last longer because sweat will ruin your hair. Sweating is seriously the last thing you want to deal with if you want your hair to look on point. Whenever I workout, I'm dripping in sweat from head to toe and my hair will look like a greasy mess in the end.

If you're skipping on working out for one or two days just to preserve your blowout, no one is judging you. When we sweat, it gets everywhere! You also can't fix sweaty, damp hair—dry shampoo kind of can help you out, but not entirely. Overall, don't work out if you know you sweat like a pig and want to keep your hair looking fab.
