A Guide to Everyday Makeup

The Perfect Complexion

Step 1:

Cleanse your face and neck to remove any dirt and to clean out your pores. I would recommend using Garnier Micellar water or cleansing milk with a cotton pad. This will leave your face feeling fresh without the use of harsh chemicals. Your face will be left looking smooth and vibrant. Alternatively, wash you face with hot water to remove any dirt and then wash with cold water to close up the port to stop any more dirt from entering.

Step 2:

Apply a very thin layer of primer with a thin brush. My personal best is a healthy mix anti-fatigue primer from Bourjois. It reduces the lines on your face as well as concealing sight of fatigue. You can use the primer as a replacement for foundation if you do not wish to put foundation on. If so, please skip the next step.

Step 3:

Apply foundation to the nose, forearm, cheeks, chin, neck, and eyelids. Very gently use a foundation brush and perform big circular motions on your face to blend the foundation in and to make sure everywhere is covered. Do not press the brush too hard into your skin as it will irritate the skin. I use healthy mix anti-fatigue foundation from Bourjois. This is because it supplies vitamins to your face to give it a healthy, natural look. By using a big brush, it will allow you to cover more surface area with one motion. It will spread out easily.

Step 4:

Apply bronzer/blusher to your cheek bones and to the side of your nose. Add highlighter to the bridge of your nose and under the bronzer/blusher on your cheek bones. This will give your look a flawless finish.

Step 5:

Apply a subtle/natural eyeshadow such as gold to your eyelids and under your eye to make your eyes pop. My personal favourite is Revlon photoready set. This will give you a more natural look and is great for everyday use. It will also show you how you can define your eyelids correctly. Apply mascara to your top eyelashes. Never apply it to the bottom as it does not look natural. I would definitely recommend using radiant black volume reveal from Bourjois.

Step 6:

Using a thin, sharpened eyebrow pencil, draw a line underneath and on top of your eyebrow. Then use the eyebrow pencil to draw hair-like lines to make the eyebrow fuller.

Step 7:

Finally, apply lipstick to your look. I would prefer to wear bold lipstick to balance out my natural look. I would recommend using MAC lipstick to finish off your look. This is long lasting and it can come in many different shades.

Please make sure to remove your makeup before going to bed so you do not get breakouts or irritated skin. By keeping your face refreshed and clean, it will allow the makeup to be applied smoothly and evenly. Once a week, exfoliate your face to remove dead skin and to clean out your pores. However, make sure you use face cream to keep your face hydrated. My personal favourite is Garnier with rose water. It is light and easy to carry in your bag. Reapply as often as you wish.
