Review on e.l.f.!

As someone who lives on a very strict budget, I always loved the idea of doing a full "glam" with affordable makeup you can buy at Target, Walmart, and online at stores such as Hush, which is my personal favorite.

This is going to be a blog based entirely on items you can get for as little as possible, including discounted and trendy clothes/accessories and... THRIFTING! I live in Northeast Philadelphia, so we have TONS of used clothing shops.

Starting off, my absolute favorite affordable makeup company would have to be e.l.f. E.l.f. gives you pigmented, generally long-lasting wear for a fourth of the price of products you would find at Sephora or Ulta. At the moment, I use the e.l.f. Bronzer Light palette in my daily makeup routine. It costs $6. The product as a whole generally lasts me for two months. I do skip out on the glitter portion of the bronzer, as I use a highlighter for my glow and shine. Link is down below. I find the pigment to be skin tone matching and it honestly lasts me throughout the day.

The second product I wanted to bring up by e.l.f. is the "Beautifully Bare Natural Glow Lotion." This product is Ah-Mazing. It's super light weight and it blends EXACTLY into your skin tone. I adore it. It's $8 for a small tube. While that may seem a little pricey, the smallest dab in the world will work for your entire face. I've had mine for about a month and I'm not even one third done with the tube. The great thing about this product is you can use it either before or after your primer, and it works exactly the same. I usually do it after my primer, but if I'm having a day where I don't feel like wearing any make-up or doing the bare-minimum, this is my go-to.

I've found e.l.f products at tons of stores-including my local non-name brand pharmacy. If you order off of their website, they are running a special where $25 purchases will get you free shipping and a free gift. The gift is a three-piece glow set. Elf is cruelty free and does not use animal derivatives in their formulas.

Since this is going to be honest reviews based on my opinion and experiences with products, I will give you some negatives about e.l.f.

I do not use their liquid foundations anymore. While the foundations do match my skin tones, I've found that after a few hours my coverage falls off and it seriously creases around my nose, lips and eyes. I used to LOVE this little BB cream bottle that they had for my concealer—but I haven't been able to find it in stores and I'm not sure if it was discontinued or not. I also find their concealers/foundations to be a little on the slimy side and hard to blend with a beauty blender or brush set.

On to brush sets—I do use a few e.l.f. brushes for everyday looks but there are some that are my fave. I absolutely love the bronzer brush by e.l.f. It's super light and holds product really well. I don't use it for bronzer specifically (I use a total face brush) but instead I use it for my cheek, forehead and jaw-line contour. In the link down below, it's the fourth brush from the right. The "Total face brush" (third from the right) is also a great brush to use. Negative on e.l.f brushes—super hard to clean. I mean REALLY hard to clean. I have to put aside half an hour to clean these brushes. They hold products so well which makes it really hard to get old products out. I use Dawn dish detergent to clean them.

I hope you enjoyed and found use out of my first blog!
