My Suggestions to Supplement Your Chemical-filled Beauty Routine for Something More Organic

I have had acne since I was probably about 13. I've always loved the idea of living off the land, or living wholly. Recently, I've been trying to incorporate that into my beauty routine by cutting out the harsh chemicals. Seems to do the same as salicylic acid and creams with 40 different chemicals so if you wish to join me on my quest come with me and read my tips.

Oils!

But Rachel, I don't want my face to be oily. That's my problem. Oh, hush up, you crazy bean. Oils are so good for you and it may be possible that you're using too much.

Right before I go to bed, I like to use two drops of Eucalyptus, a drop of two of Lavender, and two to three drops of Argan. I mix it together in the palm of my hand and use it on my face.

You can use a very wide variety of oil including tee tree, bergamot, ylang ylang, frankincense, and more! So do your research.

Face Wash

Right now I'm using a detoxifying charcoal soap bar. I wet and rub it on my face and use my off brand panasonic brush.

I've also been known to use a mix of coconut oil, honey, and other oils. There are a million and one recipes out there waiting for you to try them out!

Toner

I LOVE my apple cider vinegar toner. It. Is. Literally. Watered down apple cider vinegar in a spray bottle. Be careful not to get it in your eyes.

I also use rose water I got from a farmer's market.

Face Masks

There are SOO MAANYY DIY face masks but my favorite right now is yogurt and turmeric. I just mix the turmeric into the yogurt until it's a yellowy color and leave it on for about seven minutes. Be careful not to use too much or leave it on for too long because you can low-key stain your skin yellow.... I've done it before...

Some other favs are a bentonite clay masks and egg masks.

Exfoliator

Sugar usually isn't your friend when it come to all around health, but today that all changes. Using sugar mixed with honey, coconut oil, olive oil, essential oils, or almost anything your little heart desires can bring fast, easy results. It's simple and cost effective. Make sure you're not over exfoliating because that can cause a whole new set of problems.

Coffee Grounds

Coffee grounds can also be used as a skin exfoliator and can even help decrease the visibility of cellulite. Back when I used to drink coffee on the regular, I would mix my old grounds with some olive oil, throw it in a dish, and scrub it on in the shower.

WARNING!

You may get some grounds in some undesirable places. I would suggest to discontinue use if it messes with your PH balance or anything else or the sort. I didn't have any problems, but ladies, just be careful.

Conclusion

I hope I've shown you that there are more options out there than what's on the shelves at Target. Have fun experimenting and discovering what works for you. Hop on the internet and do a little exploring about your skin type and how different ingredients will affect you. Remember not to get discouraged. It takes time. Stay strong, my lovelies.
