DIY: How to Make Body and Hand Scrubs

3 Body Scrubs and 1 Hand Scrub

Lavender Body Scrub

I love making my own bath products, that way I know what is going on my body. This body scrub is free from harsh full chemicals. Most of the ingredients you will have in your kitchen which makes it easy to make. This scrub will leave your skin feeling fresh and your skin soft.

After making this scrub, I had to try it. I love the way it felt on my skin. I shook the jar and scooped some out and used it. It made my skin soft so there was no need for lotion. You want to pat your skin dry so you don't take off the oil that is in the scrub.

My mother tried it and loved it.

What is great about this recipe is that you can add or less of the ingredients. You can play with this recipe. I used sugar because I didn't have coarse sea salt. If you have the sea salt then you can use it instead of sugar.

  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 1 cup of olive oil
  • 5 drops of lavender essential oil
  • 1 jar

Finished project

In a bowl, mix all ingredients together. Make sure it is mixed well. Then scoop the mixture and place in a jar. Shake the jar. Use a small amount on the body then rinse off. Pat dry.

Lemon and Brown Sugar Body Scrub

I love making my own bath products. This article is on the two scrubs that I have made and used. I gave these scrubs to my friends and family to try and they love it. They told me that it makes their skin soft. And if they didn't like it, they would have told me and why.

An up close picture of the scrub

  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup of sea salt
  • 1 TBSP of honey
  • 2 TBSP of lemon juice
  • 2 TBSP of olive or coconut oil
  • 1 TSP of lavender essential oil

In a bowl, mix and stir together the brown sugar, sea salt, honey, lemon juice, olive, or coconut oil, and the lavender essential oil. Place in an air right jar. This is used to remove the dead skin cells and to moisturize your body.

Lemon Body Scrub

  • 2 cups of fine sea salt
  • 1 cup of olive oil
  • 1 TSP of vitamin-E oil

Mix together the sea salt, olive oil, and vitamin-E oil. Place the mixture in a jar. When taking a shower or bath, massage a small amount on your body. Avoid your sensitive areas. Rinse off and pat dry. Make sure you don't wipe off the oil because it will keep your body moisturized so you don't have to apply lotion. Use this scrub once a week and do not use on your face.

While I make my own products, I also reuse my glass jars instead of throwing them away. I have my products in pickle jars, jelly jars, and picante jars. One day, I will start putting them in canning jars and give them away as gifts.

Lemon Sugar Hand Scrub

Finished Product

  • 2–2 1/2 cups of white sugar
  • 1/2 cup of coconut oil
  • 4-5 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • vanilla extract

In a bowl, mix the sugar and coconut oil together. Add the lemon juice and a few drops of the vanilla extract. In two small mason jars, divide the mixture into the jars.

For this recipe, you can also try the brown sugar. If you want a gentler scrub, then use the white granulated sugar but for a stronger scrub, substitute the white sugar for the brown sugar.

When I made this hand scrub, I used coconut oil but you can also use olive or canola oil.

I hope that you enjoyed reading about how I make my own body and hand scrub because I loved writing this article. These are easy and simple recipes to make. Have fun and experiment with these ingredients.
