Foundations You Need

As a makeup artist, I have tried almost every foundation known to man, within my budget, of course. From $43 to $6, these are my favorite foundations I use year round. I pick and choose which ones I want to use from time to time. If I have extra money to spend, I'll go with the more expensive brand just to give myself a little reward. If I am on a budget (which seems to be all the time) I will go for the more cheaper priced foundation. Either way, I am always satisfied with my makeup. Anyway, here are my top favorite foundations.

Makeup For Ever HD Foundation: $43.00

This foundation is my ALL-TIME favorite, not only on myself but for my clients, as well. This foundation can be applied very lightly or can be built up for a full-coverage look. It feels like your own skin. They have a shade for everyone. From porcelain skin, to dark skin. From red undertones, to yellow undertones, and every undertone in between! It truly is my go-to formula.

NYX Total Control Drop Foundation: $13.99

This foundation is for sheer to full coverage. It is a drop-foundation, so the formula is more watery, but in a good way! This gives coverage without looking cakey. It is perfect for those who want to wear makeup, but not a lot. The glass bottle and glass dropper inside gives this foundation an expensive feeling. It gives a soft-matte finish, but does not leave your skin feeling dry. You can apply this with a foundation brush, a stipple brush, or a beauty sponge. My favorite brush to use on my clients with this foundation is a dense foundation brush from e.l.f.

Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation+Concealer: $9.99

OH MY GOODNESS. This stuff right here is the holy grail of full coverage foundation. When I say full coverage, I mean FULL coverage. This foundation is exactly what it says. It is a foundation AND a concealer. I use this when I am breaking out and it covers all my acne, without having to use concealer over top! It's not matte, so if you're wanting full coverage, but still wanting to look luminous and glowy, this is the stuff for you! I put this stuff to the test and it covered my tattoo with only two layers. It's insane!

e.l.f Flawless Finish Foundation: $6.00

For the people on a budget, this one is for you! Although they do not have that big of a shade range, this is the best drugstore foundation I have tried. There are no strong perfumes, it doesn't make you look cakey, and it is easy on your wallet. It has more of a matte finish, but doesn't dry you out. A little highlight on top can make this foundation look luxurious.

Maybelline Dream BB Cream: $7.44

Although this is not your traditional "foundation," this BB cream is my #1 go-to when my skin is clear of pimples. It also has salicylic acid in it to help problematic skin. This does not have any coverage because it is considered a balm, but here are the 8 benefits: blurs any and all imperfections, brightens your skin, evens your skin-tone, smoothes the surface of your skin, hydrates and moisturizes, enhances your skin's complexion, protects from the sun's harmful ray's with SPF 30, and 0 percent oils and heavy ingredients for a lightweight feel.

Makeup For Ever Water Blend Foundation: $43.00

I used this foundation in school and I have seen artists use this foundation backstage at fashion shows. It is a super light coverage, lightweight foundation, mainly because it is 80 perent water. It has a very natural coverage, but it is also buildable. It is perfect for all skin types, giving a glowy finish that lasts all day. It is for the face and body, so it is perfect for photoshoots.
