What is a good skincare routine? One that is customizable for your skin type and your skincare concerns! Using these five skincare step essentials, you’re bound to find your perfect routine in no time!

  1. Cleanse
  2. Treat
  3. Hydrate
  4. Protect
  5. Additions

How do I cleanse?

Using a cleanser works efficiently when removing bacteria, impurities, and dead skin cells. It helps control the excessive production of oil that may in turn cause acne, large pores, and more.

There are different types of cleansers:

  • Oil: Good for any skin type to remove makeup and debris from the skin.
  • Balm: Similar to oil cleanser but starts off in solid form and melts as you apply it into your skin. A good way to remove makeup and debris from the skin.
  • Jelly: Similar to a liquid cleanser but can be more gentle on the skin. A good way to remove toxins and makeup from the skin.
  • Liquid: Great for all skin types to remove both toxins and makeup from the skin.
  • Foam: Lightweight cleaner great for all skin types to remove toxins and debris from the skin.

How do I treat?

Think of how people take supplements to make themselves healthier. For your skin, we use serums as the supplement and toners to amplify the effectiveness of the serum.

First, an alcohol-free cleansing toner aids in balancing the pH levels of the skin, provides deep hydration, softens the skin for a healthy-looking complexion, and removse any impurities.

The use of a serum can be the perfect multitasker to help with any skin concerns. It is highly concentrated, lightweight, and penetrates deep into the skin to provide nourishing nutrients, antioxidants, and/or exfoliate the skin. It’s fast-absorbing to help regenerate skin cells and provide ingredients to fight the look of dullness, dark spots, and discolorations, while instantly increasing brightness, radiance, and luminosity.

There are different types of serums:

  • Brightening: To enhance the glow of the skin as well as even out the skin tone.
  • Moisturizing: To enhance the moisture of the skin to ensure the skin stays healthy all year round.
  • Exfoliating: To help remove the darkness of acne scars, sun spots, and/or age spots.
  • Anti-aging: To help tighten the skin from loss of elasticity and wrinkles.
  • Mattifying: To help control the oil production in the skin.

How do I hydrate?

A hydrating moisturizer is a must-have to rescue dry, dull skin while providing a barrier of moisture throughout the day and night. There are different textures and consistencies of creams that release a burst of skin-improving nutrients to help clarify and refine skin with powerful ingredients.

There are different types of moisturizers:

  • Oil: Perfect for those with a dry skin type. Oils provide extra moisturization to the skin since the skin’s oil production levels are low.
  • Cream: Great for those with a dry to normal skin type. Creams have a high percentage of whipped oils in them to provide the skin a healthy amount of moisturization but yet are not too overbearing.
  • Gel: Good for those with a normal, combination, or oily skin type. Gels are mainly water based to ensure the skin is moisturized but yet are not too overbearing for the skin types that naturally have enough oil production to keep the skin moisturized.

How do I protect?

SPF is known as the sun protection factor against UV rays. There are two types of ultra violet (UV) rays, UVA and UVB. SPF is meant to protect your skin from the absorption of those UV rays to prevent the formation of cancer cells in the skin. It is imperative to use an SPF to help minimize sun damage to the skin since skin cancer is the most preventable cancer but yet the most common.

It is recommended to wear at least an SPF of 15 every day. Without SPF, the sun can cause cancer, hyperpigmentation, and accelerate aging. When in direct sunlight, it is best to reapply SPF products every two hours. But wearing SPF is easy. You can either apply it through sunscreen or through BB creams, CC creams, SPF primers, or SPF sprays! The range is large but convenient for your everyday routine!

What are some additions?

As you gradually familiarize yourself with skincare, you may be interested in some more treatment products such as:

  • Exfoliators: Help exfoliate the skin to remove dead skin cells from the surface as well as any texture on the skin.
  • Peels: Help exfoliate the skin to the deepest layers of your skin to help with acne scars, sun spots, and age spots.
  • Eye creams: Help with the puffiness and/or fine lines under the eyes.
  • Face masks: They can help enhance the natural skin complexion and provide more hydration and brightening properties.

Exfoliators and peels assist with removing dead surface skin cells, brightening and smoothing the skin’s complexion, and preventing clogged pores that could lead to excessive production of oils. They refine and nourish the skin and help with anti-aging such as fine lines and wrinkles, the loss of firmness and elasticity.

Eye creams are the best solution for dark circles, puffiness, fine lines, and wrinkles underneath the eye area. A powerfully moisturizing eye cream can treat and help minimize signs of aging, stress, and fatigue. It can aid in reducing the appearance of dark circles and brighten the under-eye area. It moisturizes, helps visibly firm, and restores the appearance of elasticity to the skin around the eyes.

A refreshing, cooling, moisturizing, and calming gel mask can help hydrate dry skin. It can also help soothe irritated skin after sun exposure, peels, waxing, facials, and extractions, and may be used under the eye area to help reduce the look of puffiness (depending on the face mask). A clay mask instantly purifies and deep cleans the skin to minimize the appearance of pores, tighten and firm, and prevent blemishes. It clarifies the complexion and can be used as a spot treatment. Overall, the face mask provides instant results that address a variety of skin concerns.
