How to Get Age-Defying Air

Your hair should age as gracefully as you.

Who says you have to look your age? You could be 40 and look as if you’re still in your 20s, if you really tried. People guess age depending on how youthful your skin and hair look. Keeping your skin young depends on how often you’re using moisturizers and your diet looks. Your hair, on the other hand, is different. As a person’s body ages, some of the hair follicles on the head stop working. This is what you might be experiencing if you notice that you can see the vague outline of your scalp through what’s left of your hair. And as you age, the pigment cells in your hair start to die and become gray, silver, or white. The hair itself might appear limp and thinner than it was. The good news is that there are ways to reduce the damage that your hair takes as your body ages. If you take the right steps, you can have age-defying hair that makes you look 20 years younger.

Eat the right foods.

Hair is actually similar to your skin in that the foods you eat impact the health of your hair. As you age, your scalp doesn’t produce as many natural oils as it once did. This makes your hair feel dry enough to spark a fire. The foods that you eat could help to restore balance to your hair and give it back the shine that it needs to appear young again. You should focus your diet on food that provides your hair with protein, omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins A, C, and E, and zinc. The best foods for your diet are salmon, dark leafy greens, and nuts. If you make sure that your diet is rich in all of those foods, you’ll see the shine come back to your hair in a matter of months.

Change your style.

As women grow older, they often start to style their hair more often and more frequently. They add more product to their hair, use more heat, add hair extensions, and over wash their hair. All of these are mistakes to make if you want your hair to feel healthy and young. The first thing that you want to do is avoid styling your hair too much. One of the best tips for youthful hair is to keep your style simple. Use the least amount of styling products that you can and instead, focus on protecting it. Use a heat-shield every single time you plan to either blow-dry, straighten, or curl your hair. If you can, air dry your hair and avoid rubbing it too much with a towel (which increases split ends). Wash your hair every other day and use a leave-in conditioner on the off days. Treat your hair cautiously, and you’ll start to notice that the strands gain back their strength. Just remember that as your age, your hair becomes more sensitive to styling.

Use the right products.

You should make an effort to find products that avoid certain ingredients and others that have the right ingredients. The worst things that you can put in your hair include isopropyl alcohol, sulfates, parabens, sodium chloride, and synthetic fragrances. Check every bottle that you use on your hair to make sure that it doesn’t contain anything harmful. Then, start looking for these ingredients instead: caffeine, panthenol, niacinamide, aloe vera, and green tea. There are a lot of other ingredients that are great for aging hair as well. Just make sure that you’re using products that will thicken your hair, and add moisture to where it’s lacking.

Conclusion

Your hair should look as young as you want to feel. And, it’s no secret that great hair leads to great confidence. If you want hair that is sleek, long, and thick even when you feel like you should be too old for young hair, all you have to do is go for it. As long as you’re keeping up a regular routine with your hair, your hair will stay young.
