Why I Like Mauve Obsessions & How I Use the Palette

Obsessions Palette Mauve

Being a 23-year-old woman has really opened my eyes up to the world of makeup. Some of my favorite brands have been Too Faced, Tarte, and Urban Decay, along with ColourPop for my lip colors, but I never used Huda Beauty products. That is, until now. I bought this palette about two weeks ago from Sephora online at JCPenney. I bought it because I needed some more pinks and purples to add to my eyeshadow collection. I am not disappointed with my purchase.

This is the first product I have bought from the Huda Beauty brand, but I can tell you that it definitely will not be the last one I buy. From the few times I have used it since purchasing the palette and waiting six agonizing days, I can already tell that the palette is of great quality. The colors are incredibly pigmented and stay all day, even without primer.

For this palette, there are nine different eyeshadows. In the first row, there is a maroon, sparkly peach, and sparkly pink. In the second row, there is a sparkly pink/red, tan, and red-ish color. In the last row, there is a very deep purple, a cream, and what looks to be a mix between the maroon and deep purple. The packaging itself comes in a perfect square with the colors and name on the front. It is about a 3x3 inch square. Inside, there are all the eyeshadow colors and a large mirror that takes up most of the lid. It stays closed nicely because it has a magnet in it. No need to worry about it coming open in your makeup bag and getting everywhere!

Now that the basic look of the palette has been described, I will give step-by-step directions as to how I use this palette. First, I take a regular eyeshadow brush and use the cream color as a base from my eyelashes all the way up to my brow bone. Next, I take a crease brush and lightly sweep the red color along my crease on both sides. After using the red on my crease, I do the same with the mix between the maroon and deep purple (lower right corner). The reason I use more than one color is so that I can add dimension to my look! Once I am done with my crease, I move on to my outer corners. The color I prefer for this area is the deep purple. I use an angled brush for this step because it allows me to be more precise with placement and I can blend it into my lighter shadows more. For the rest of my lid, I take the regular eyeshadow brush and use the sparkly pink color. It blends nicely with the deep purple from the outer corner. Then, I take the cream color and go over my brow bone one last time to make sure I do not have any hard lines from the crease colors and the dark corner color. From there, you can put on eyeliner and mascara however you would like. I also prefer to use a highlighter on my brow bone to really make it pop in the light! Lastly, always be sure to spray your face with a setting spray when you are done with all your makeup to make it last all day.

This palette gets a 10/10 in my book. The only negative I have about the palette is that the names of the eyeshadows are not found anywhere on the product like most other palettes. My next product I will purchase from Huda Beauty might be one of the fantastic lip colors. It may even be another Obsessions Palette, but my choice of color is unknown at this point. They have this palette in Electric, Warm Brown, and Smokey, all of which look absolutely stunning. What are your thoughts on Huda Beauty products?
