Treating and Preventing Acne

As an acne sufferer myself, I know that preventing and treating acne is not always easy and it often costs a lot of money to us acne sufferers out there. Here, I am going to show you how to prevent and treat it in the cheapest fashion with amazing results. Most teenagers suffer from acne at an early age such as 12. Many adults also suffer from acne. This can occur in anyone and be the result of the change of diet, growing up or stress. Most acne sufferers have oily skin. The glands often get blocked by sweat and dirt, therefore causing spots.

Preventing Acne

To prevent acne in the first place, there are many ways, we would never have realized. Simple solutions that we should already know are keeping up our general cleanliness—washing our face twice a day is a start. There are many kinds of face washes available these days, which treat different kinds of skin. For example, oily skin, dry skin, and combination skin. Using this daily will reduce the appearance of acne in your life. Eating a healthy diet has a lot to do with the way our skin reacts.

Coffee and tea or anything else with caffeine is bad for our skin. It thins the tissue and can easily cause spots. An alternative to caffeine that I use daily are herbal teas. You can even get herbal teas that detox your body reducing and cleaning out all the bad in our system. Changing our bed cloths regularly has a lot to do with the prevention of acne. If you have a spot, you should change your pillowcase every two nights as you will be lying on the area where your spot has touched therefore spreading it elsewhere on your face.

Treating Acne

There are many ways in which to treat acne. Some are mentioned above (i.e. washing your face with a specialized face wash). You can receive products from your local doctors who will usually let you have treatment on your local health authority. This can be tablets in the form of oxytetracycline or cream based products like benzol peroxide. The best product I have used is called panoxyl and I would highly recommend this to anyone. You simply put the cream on once a day and at night and that is it. My skin cleared up in an instant and I have never looked back since. The only problem with my skin now is scarring left from acne.

Resources Available to Acne Sufferers

There are many resources available to acne sufferers. This can be from your doctors, in shops or from a specialist such as a dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon. To prevent acne scarring in the first instance, you shouldn’t pick spots! Easier said than done, I know. Your skin is like silk and any damage caused to it will leave a visible scar. Before trying out the higher priced services of a dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon, I would highly recommend trying Bio-oil. At $8.95, it is a cheap product to be tried. I have used this for a few months now and it has reduced my scars right down. I only have a few lefts, which will not budge. For that reason, I am going to a cosmetic surgeon. Consultations are usually free. They will inform you as to how they think your skin can be cleared of acne and scarring. I was told that I would need three treatments of a chemical peel and three treatments of microdermabrasion. Each chemical peel costs $125 and each treatment of micro-dermabrasion costs $85. Roughly, it will cost me about $600, but I think it will be worth it in the long run. It will give me a boost and give me the self-confidence that I should have.
