Makeup Routine for Tomboys

My specific makeup routine!

I started wearing makeup when I was 21 years old. As a woman I KNOW that is a very late start. I was never the one to gloss over my face, or blend, or compact something in my face. I actually had "bad skin" as a young person, so naturally I started using acne products. I had buckets of acne cremes, toners, moisturizers, and masks. I had tried everything on my face to clear my skin, so I did not even want to add anything else! I was also a tomboy. I never liked to be super feminine, and I just knew that was who I was. I am, and was, sort of a shell of a woman, but on the inside I really was just searching for peace, and self love. I realize now that makeup enhances, and is a form of self love. All women including tomboys can invest in themselves in this way!! Here is my routine!

So I went to Target... and you know you have one too! The makeup section is dense, which I had no desire for. But eventually I found L'Oréal Paris's True Match LUMI Glotion. I like this first because it can easily blend into my skin, and mine specifically is the 902. I have fair skin, but it is a bit of a Twinkie color, and it gives me a glow, and evens out the darker chin area. This product was about $10.99.

Next, I figured that I should add a twinkle to my eyes. You want those (girls or guys) to look directly at your brown, blue, or green eyes! So, I use Revlon Color Stay Decadent 505. There is a mini brush that comes with this product, but I take my finger, dip, and then brush it over my eyelids. The colors are warmer, sandy, with one that is a dusty brown shade. Fun colors are nice, but personally as a Tomboy, and a Queer woman, I would prefer my partner to dress her eyes more exuberantly than mine. A little shimmer for a night out, or just a boost to a drab, rainy day works well! The price was about $7.

While we are on the eyes, how about the eyelashes! I honestly feel like my eyes are my most attractive feature. When you give someone eye contact this sign of confidence can attract people to you. Being shy, if you have eyes that pop, others know that you are interested when you look their way. I use Benefit, They're Real. I got this from my mom actually. To put on the mascara you let the bristles brush upwards on your lashes. At first it is a bit freaky, because you think that it will poke your eye out! But it won't! As you get used to it, you will not even flinch. Putting on mascara with eyeshadow gives your face that natural boost. If you are always busy, this step only takes about three minutes when you get it down. Usually a lot of femme women use eye extensions, or mascaras that thicken their lashes. But, this product does not make you look harsh. It is softer, but it doesn't take away from my boy-ish charm! Benefit, They're Real runs at about $24 dollars, but if you have a makeup-wearing family member you may be able to get it free!

My favorite came from a makeup shop! As this is not my favorite location, but it was in honor of self love. I went to the MAC store, and I really liked this nude colored, lip gloss. As someone who admires nice, full, colorful lips, I figured that my Vaseline just did not cut it. So I would enter the store and simply ask for the Lipglass called Spite. The cost is about $15!

So it is possible to get a clean, fresh, but sweet, and warm look. It doesn't have to be a glamour show, but it can be a moment for more self care!
