A Review of the Moroccan Spice Palette by Fenty Beauty

First Looks

The palette and packaging are both a beautiful navy blue, almost purple color. The cover of the palette has beautiful—what looks like—smoke clouds of magenta, pink, and purple in the center, as well as the Fenty Beauty name. The back of the palette has all of the names of each of the shades inside of the palette. The names correspond to the other side of the palette. If you're looking at the first color on the right of the packaging sticker, then that will be the first color on the right inside the palette. The palette itself is made of plastic and is suggested to last nine months from opening, according to the label given on the back of the palette.

Inside the Palette

The Moroccan Spice Palette by Fenty Beauty holds 16 shades, all named in theme, to the Moroccan culture, pop culture, and actual spices. There are seven matte shades and eight shimmer shades. The first thing that catches my eye is the bright shimmering blue and dark shimmering teal. Along the rest of the palette, my eyes see hints of gold shimmer, warm mattes, and two cool-toned shades. The layout of this palette is pleasing because the groupings are cohesive. There is also a mirror that sits in the center of the lid.

Pigmentation

So far, I've experienced pretty decent pigmentation from all of the matte shades. For the shimmers, I have tried both wet and dry applications, as well as finger and brush applications. As per usual, in my opinion, finger applications work best, but if you feel that you are not able to use your finger, a wet packing brush will suffice. I need to mention that, yes, there is fallout from most of the matte shades and a few of the shimmers, but a little fallout never bothered me. The most annoyed I get is that the inside of my palette is not clean, but otherwise, let it rain pigment on me!

To Buy or Not to Buy

In my opinion, being $59 USD, this palette can easily be duped out with less expensive single shadows or palettes. In my opinion, when you buy Fenty Beauty, be aware that there may already be a markup on price because you are buying from Rihanna's brand. Some dupes that I believe are fairly close (remember, a dupe is ALMOST a replica, but not quite) are the Wet N Wild Color Icon Palette in Comfort Zone ($4.99 USD), Sponjac Moroccan Palette ($19.90 USD), or if you want a barely cheaper, high end dupe, the Urban Decay Born to Run Palette ($49 USD) has many shades that you could potentially mix to get almost identical shades to the Fenty Beauty Moroccan Spice Palette. All in all, if you love RiRi and these colors appeal to you, go for it and spend that money, baby! If you love RiRi, but are ballin' on a budget, find your local Ulta or drugstore and get the Wet N Wild palette. If you do not love RiRi, don't talk to me about not loving my queen... but consider your finances before possibly purchasing this palette.
