My Favorite Hair Hacks and Products

I don't know about you, but I love my hair. But it took me awhile to get to loving it! My hair is curly, but not like those beautiful natural curls you can tame and work with, no. My curls are random waves and random straight strands of hair and so on. It's a mess if I don't take care of it. My hair comes down to my waist, and it's thick, and frizzy! Everyone's hair is different, but I hope now knowing what my hair is like, it will help you in deciding what works best for you!

I'll start with my "hair hacks!"

Use a headband for a ponytail.

I have really thick hair. Regular ponytail holders snap on me when I try and use them unless I use them to secure a braid at the bottom of my hair. They do make ponytail holders that are bigger and thicker but if you live in small town like me, they don't always sell them. If you don't feel like going out of town for them or can't, a quick fix that I do on a regular basis is to use an elastic headband! It works wonders, holds well, and is so much better for your hair than a rubber band.

No Heat Month

I absolutely love my curling wand, my straightener, and to take a hot shower. But that can all be so horrible for your hair. Every so often, I like to take a "No Heat Month" where I don't use anything like that on my hair. I don't use too much heat on my hair anymore anyways but I still like to cut it out completely sometimes like this. I don't run cold water over my hair to wash it though, there's no way I could stand that! I just use warm water instead of hot water. If you want, I like to braid my hair when it's wet and sleep with it like that so I have a pretty wave to my hair when I take the braids out, that way I use no heat! Another great way to use no heat and still style your hair is to use Flexi Rods. They are a pain to sleep in but I figured out my hair doesn't need that long to curl in them so I can get up, put them in, get ready for whatever I am about to do and by the time I am done, I have curls with no heat!

Use a straightener for curls.

Unfortunately, my curling wand broke awhile back, and cash was tight, so I couldn't get a new one for awhile, but then I saw a tutorial on YouTube on how to use a straightener instead and it is amazing. I have the most soft, beautiful, loose curls! It takes some practice, but it is so worth it. I highly recommend looking it up!

Bun Curls

If my hair is damp, a lot of the time I will sleep with my hair in a bun, or braid it anyways to keep it from tangling or getting in my face, but if you damp your hair and then put it in a tight bun, when you wake up it gives really pretty curls that are loose and bouncy!

I have used all sorts of hair products out there, but there are only a few that I stuck to and these are it:

Hairspray

Because my hair is so thick, I had the worst time trying to find a hairspray that not only held my hair in place, but didn't make it crunchy or greasy. This is it! After I do my hair, I can go all day without spraying it again and it doesn't look like I used anything! Plus, it smells sooo good.

Moroccan Oil

I swear by this stuff. It smells amazing and makes my hair so soft. Pretty much anything with Moroccan oil in it, I am willing to try. The same brand sells coconut oil like this too—I love that. But this one is my favorite. They sell shampoos and conditioners that are wonderful as well!

Anti-Frizz

My fellow frizzy haired sisters are gonna love this. I put it on my hair right after I get out of the shower and then use a wide tooth comb and I have no frizz at all.

Shampoo and Conditioner

I just found this recently and I am in love! My hair is so soft after I use this and it feels so clean. My favorites are the Moroccan oil and Keratin oil.

That's all I use. I hope this helped with all your long locks! Thanks for reading!
