Self care is important. Taking the time to care for your skin, hair, nails, etc. is vital to feeling your best and being your most confident self. The more I've researched the beauty industry, the more I've learned how toxic, harsh, and damaging so many of the ingredients and practices used can be. I'm a firm believer that what you put on your body is just as crucial as what you put in your body and had to make a more conscious change once I'd educated myself. I've been steadily switching out all of my old beauty products for more ethical choices for a year now and I'm finally at a place where I can confidently recommend a few! I'm so passionate about creating a more sustainable, compassionate world so I'm always looking to share my knowledge of smarter, kinder options with anyone interested. The products mentioned here are some of my tried and true self-care items. I've tested many of them out over a long period of time and have seen the same quality results as many of my past favorites. Without further ado, here is my current list!
1. Rosehip Oil
I saw recommendations for this miracle oil from Arden Rose and Orion Carloto a while back and decided that I had to try it out. I was not disappointed. This oil is a wonder for dry skin, acne scarring, razor bumps, and so much more! I use it everyday, either just on my face or on my body as I see fit. I typically use it on my bikini line right after shaving as it keeps bumps and blemishes to a minimum and gives that sensitive area a little extra care. My long time favorite is Measurable Difference's rose body oil but I've recently been using Olivia Care's rose facial serum and LOVING it.
2. Smith's Rosebud Salve
My one and only love. My holy grail beauty product that I'm convinced makes anyone look 1000 times more put together no matter what amount of makeup you're wearing or what outfit you're rocking. This rosebud salve gives just the right amount of tint to the lips while still looking natural and fresh. Its many uses include your standard lipgloss, a dewy highlight for the face, and a fast-absorbing moisturizer for your cuticles. I have a tube or tin of this magic in my bag at all times!
3. Tree Hut Body Butter
Tree Hut's body butter, in all of their amazing scents, has been a love of mine for a while. In fact, all of Tree Hut's products are pretty incredible. I've recently been using their Coconut Lime body butter but their Moroccan Rose scent is one of my absolute favorite smells in the world. This body lotion is perfectly rich and hydrating without being greasy.
4. Schmidt's Natural Deodorant/ Antiperspirant
I tried a few different natural deodorants before I found Schmidt's and I fell in love with their formula. These deodorants come in a variety of lovely, natural scents and keep me feeling dry all day long. Definitely recommend to anyone who may have given up the tiring hunt for an effective natural deodorant/antiperspirant!
5. Nature's Gate Shampoo and Conditioner
Nature's Gate was one of the very first vegan and cruelty free brands that I found and stuck with for a long time. I've been using their Jasmine and Kombucha scented shampoo and conditioner for over a year now and have had nothing but healthy, happy, shiny hair as a result. Not only are these products vegan and cruelty free, but they don't contain any harsh chemicals (all organic and non-toxic ingredients!) and their packaging is 100 percent recyclable!
