Sensitive Skin Shaving Tips

For Everyone Sick of Razor Burn

I hate shaving more than I hate washing dishes (which is a lot). I get razor burn/ingrown hairs more often and more easily as I get older for some reason, which is frustrating. In other words, shaving is a nightmare! I get razor burn, ingrown hairs, and swollen lymph nodes... Everything horrible that could happen from shaving materializes on my body. Thank goodness I am well past the nicking-myself phase. If I cut myself every time I shaved I couldn't use some of my shaving solutions because it would burn! I have tried many things to prevent these things from happening, and I think I have finally figured out how to solve my shaving saga.

I have tried Nair, shaving cream, conditioner, waxing, etc. If you can think of a method of hair removal, I have probably tried it. I have even tried Nair for sensitive skin, and instead of removing my hair I got the worst chemical burns under my arms and still had to shave that same night. That was probably the most pain I have ever experienced, and I will never try that again. Waxing at home was not a pleasant experience at all. The oil that came with the kit I bought did not get the excess wax off my legs, so the leftover wax kept getting stuck on my pants. I was extremely irritated for a couple days after waxing, which was worse than the actual waxing itself. This is my simple shaving solution that has been working for me recently, and the best thing I have tried so far.

When I shave my legs, I use a homemade sugar scrub my soon-to-be husband gave me for Christmas. I lather my leg with the scrub and shave over it. It's a great way to exfoliate, and my legs always end up being incredibly soft and moisturized. Afterward, I finish with some lotion to ensure super soft legs. When I shave my armpits I use the same sugar scrub, and after I get out of the bath I use the Bikini Zone After Shave Pads for ingrown hair relief. I use them whenever I feel that I am getting irritated under my arms, which is around 2–3 times per day for a couple days if I am super irritated. However, after a typical shave, I use the aftershave pads once or twice the day after to get rid of the irritation. When I shave my lady bits I do a wet shave with no barrier between my skin and the razor because I would rather get razor bumps than any kind of infection. I know they make barrier products for extra sensitive areas, but I have never tried them and this is what works best for me. After I get out of the bath I use the same aftershave pads mentioned above for a day or two to prevent ingrown hairs and razor burn. As you can tell, I love these aftershave pads and they work extremely well for me.

This is what has been working for me, and I am not going to be experimenting with anything else for a long time. Gone are the days of painful hair removal! If you have very sensitive skin, I would recommend my shaving regime, especially if you are prone to razor burn or ingrown hairs. It's not a foolproof method. I still get ingrown hairs occasionally, but razor burn is definitely a thing of the past. This is the best option I have discovered for me, and I will continue searching for a perfect fool-proof method to get rid of ingrown hairs. I finally enjoy having smooth skin and love shaving more often now because I know I can worry less about painful razor burn.
