Steps that'll Improve Your Skin

Skin Care Hacks

I've struggled with acne since age 13. I never really understood why some people wouldn't get acne. I mean, eventually it was bound to happen but some people have it worse than others.

I remember trying anything I could to get rid of acne but it only seemed to get worse. At 13, I didn't have money to buy things for myself so it was a bit hard for me.

As I got older and new products started coming out that actually "helped," I started to get a bit more insecure about showing my face to everyone. That was until I bought Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser.

Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser

It's a clear substance that has a very weird feeling to it once you apply it to your face but when I tell you that it worked wonders for me, I wouldn't be lying. Every time I would feel a pimple or zit coming to surface, I would just rub a small amount on the area overnight and it would either disappear or it would be close to popping. Crazy, right?!

After a while of using it, I stopped and my acne stayed away for quite some time. I used to eat really badly but couldn't gain one ounce of weight. Finally, as time went on and here I was rubbing my face with things that I thought helped my face, my acne came back hard and I was struggling again.

I was using exfoliates, oil-free cleansers, dry skin products, and I still couldn't get rid of my acne!

I'm sure most of you are struggling with acne so here I am and I'm going to give you my "secrets" on how I fought my fight with acne.

Use moisturizer!!!

Moisturizer contains a small quantity of water. Always apply moisturizer after washing your face with any skin care product. Moisturizer locks the water into your skin and will help reduce wrinkles and dry skin.

Apply sunscreen during the day.

The sun has very harmful UV rays, as we all should know because we were taught this in school. Being in the sun for even a couple of minutes can harm your skin and can eventually cause cancerous cells in some ways. Sunscreen was created to put on if you know you're going to be in the sun for too long. It blocks all those harmful rays from endangering your skin.

Eat less greasy foods.

Eating less greasy foods helps a lot. As we all know, street tacos can be very greasy and when you take that first bite out of those delicious al pastor tacos, that grease gets on the corner of your mouth. As much as I loved the tacos in the mall near my house, I knew that the grease was bad. Also, stay away from any type of fried food.

Eat your fruits and vegetables.

As much as I used to hate eating healthy foods and was always into eating Ramen and greasy foods, I knew that I had to change the way I ate in order to be a better me. Always eat your strawberries, pineapples, etc., and don't forget your broccoli, carrots, etc. Vegetables are important sources of many nutrients, including potassium, vitamin A, and vitamin C. Fruits are sources of many essential nutrients that are under-consumed, including potassium, vitamin C, and folate. Eating fruits and vegetables also help reduce heart diseases and health problems. Even if it's just a small bowl of fruits and veggies, always remember that they benefit the body!!

Apply products in a specific order.

Start off with your cleanser and wash your face thoroughly. Allow your face to dry and then go to the next step, which is toner, allow it to dry, and then moisturize and apply sunscreen.

During your night time routine, start off with cleanser, then toner, then apply Spot Treatment. I personally use the neutrogena 2-hour spot treatment. You can find it at your local Walmart, CVS, or Walgreens. After applying your spot treatment, apply your serum, then proceed to eye cream and then last but not least, moisturizer. It's a lot of steps, I know, but it'll be worth it in the long run.

Drink water in the morning and at night.

I never really understood why people would tell me to drink water after I woke up and before I went to bed but one day I decided to try it out.

Drink 8 ounces of water on an empty stomach as soon as you wake up. After being asleep for a full 7-8 hours without any water or fluids in your system, it's good to get some nice ice cold water or room temperature water into your system. It gets your body running properly and allows your organs to start working the way they're supposed to. It also allows your kidneys to use the water for your body and store the unneeded water for later.

Drink 8 ounces 30 minutes or an hour before you go to bed. It'll keep you hydrated throughout the night and get your organs to work before your brain cells say it's time to rest. It'll also allow your kidneys to dispose of the waste in your body and use the rest to keep your skin wrinkle-free and less dry.

Use products that fit your acne description.

I struggled with this quite a bit because I thought that all skin care products were the same and worked the same way but I was wrong. If you're struggling with just a very oily face and are using a product specifically designed for dry skin, then you're only making your face worse.

Always look at your cleaners/exfoliates and see what they are used for. If you have a combination between dry and oily skin then the combination cleanser is for you but if you're suffering from oily skin, then look for a product that says it's just for oily skin. I personally use the Biore baking soda cleanser for oily skin and it works wonders! No more shiny face in pictures.

Drink water!!

Water is a major key to clear skin. Drinking Water Helps Maintain the Balance of Body Fluids. Your body is composed of about 60 percent water. The functions of these bodily fluids include digestion, absorption, circulation, creation of saliva, transportation of nutrients, and maintenance of body temperature. Let's not forget that it keeps you away from getting dehydrated and passing out.

I hope that this helps a little bit as much as it helped me. You don't have to go see a dermatologist and spend hundreds on something that works on some people but doesn't work on you. You can spend 0 to none on just eating a bit healthier and taking better care of yourself. Always remember to look at your products and read them carefully before you just grab them and buy them. It's a lot less stressful and easier to get rid of that stubborn acne!
