How to Get Clear Skin

Since summer is approaching, we all want to look good in our pictures. Or you just want to have clear skin all throughout the year. This can be hard for the few of us that don't have perfect skin. But have no fear.

Keep it clean.

Your hands touch so many surfaces a day, being contaminated with germs, bacteria, and dirt. When you continuously touch your face, especially without washing you them, all that dirt and oils on your fingers seep into your skin, causing blackheads, whiteheads, and bad flare ups.

Not only is it important to have clean hands, but a clean face as well. After a long day, you probably have so many natural oils, dead skin cells, makeup, and sweat sitting on your face. All you have to do is wash it off with soap and water.

Don't you dare pop that pimple!

Resist the urge to pick. Number one, you're just letting the dirt on your hands touch already bad break out. Number two, picking at your skin may seem like a good idea until you are constantly reminded of it by a giant scar in the future. You're doing more harm than good.

Drink more water.

There are plenty of benefits for drinking the right amount of water a day. Drinking water can flush out the toxins in your body and keep you hydrated, giving you that natural, healthy glow.

Beware of what you eat.

Even though there is no solid evidence that a diet can have an effect on the skin, it is still a good idea to be mindful of what you put in your body. There is a possibility that you are allergic to a certain type of food. Allergic reaction symptoms are different for everyone so it's important for you to do your own research and pay close attention to what your body does and does not want.

Ways you can test out if you are allergic to something:

  • Pick a certain food that you think might be the culprit. For example, if you think dairy is the problem, then choose dairy for this experiment.
  • Cut out that food out from your diet completely for at least a month.
  • During the time of this experiment, keep a close eye on the skin's response to the change and take notes.
  • If you were lucky enough to see a positive difference in your skin, congrats! But if you don't see the difference, move on and try it again with a different type of food.

Stop stressing!

When under stress, your hormone level increases, causing really bad flare ups and break outs. Meditate, try breathing techniques, talk to someone. Do anything to release the stress and tension from your body.

Use a minimal amount of products.

I know. We see our favorite YouTube and Instagram makeup gurus use these "amazing" skin products and we are so convinced they work that we buy them. The truth is you don't need toners and anti-aging serums, and those gurus are getting paid to advertise the products. They probably don't even use them on a daily basis. Stick to a simple cleanser and good moisturizer and keep it moving.

Change the sheets.

The blankets and pillowcases on your bed are the perfect place for bacteria and germs to stay so change and clean them at least once every two weeks.

Say no to makeup.

Now this doesn't mean give up makeup forever. But it's good to give your skin a break from makeup once in a while. Let your skin breathe.
