Get smooth, clear skin with these steps!

For being the biggest organ the human body has, skin is so overlooked. Surprising considering there are aisles upon aisles of skin products in supermarkets everywhere. Yet most people skip over all of it, barely even washing their face at the end of the night. Crazy!

Within those rows and rows of skin products, it's easy to get lost knowing what to get, what you should do, heck, even the order you should do it! So that's what this guide is, to help teach you what you need, what would be helpful, and what order to put it all on your face!

NOTE: I am not a dermatologist or doctor of any type. This guide is a mere suggestion and the steps I've taken to get clearer skin and smooth out some flaw. It may not work for everyone and may not work on everyone. Do what's best for your skin and whatever you and your doctor decide.

Step One: Cleanse, baby!

A cleanser to take off all of that dead skin, toxins, dirt, and oil built up all day is a HUGE part of your skin care. If you don't do anything else, let this be that one thing! This simple thing clears out the skin, preventing build up and therefore preventing break outs.

I recommend buying a battery operated cleansing brush that will get deep into your skin and reach a layer you can't simply by rubbing! It's also helpful so your fingers aren't touching your skin and transferring even more oil!

Clean and Clear (as pictured above) is a great one, cheap and found almost anywhere! They have a night and morning one, as well as some for sensitive skin.

Step Two: Tone.

If you have oily skin or are prone to acne, you NEED to tone. ESPECIALLY if you wear heavy makeup every day. You'd be surprised how much dirt/makeup is still left in your pores even after using a cleanser. Toner goes even deeper in your pores and does so much for the skin. It tightens pores, restores pH, and adds a layer of protection as it tightens some cells after the cleansing, as well as acting as a moisturizer and refreshing the skin.

Some days I'll be in a rush and don't have time to do my full skin care, but always make sure I tone at the very least.

Not all toners are made equal. If your toner doesn't have witch hazel in it, I wouldn't even bother. Witch hazel does half the work, tightening pores while giving us that deep clean that removes makeup/dirt/oil that can't be reached with a cleanser.

Thayers Witch Hazel Toner is the most ideal toner in my opinion. (pictured above)

It has witch hazel, aloe vera, and has the option to have rose, cucumber, or lavender in it! Pretty inexpensive and works miracles for the skin.

Step Three: Serum

Having a serum is one of those extra things that aren't necessary, but definitely help! The biggest thing this oil like substance does is it is just another form of hydration that strengthens the cells in your face along with it.

If you can fit this in your skin care routine, it works wonders. If not, just make sure you use moisturizer day and night with a quality moisturizer!

Step Four: Wrinkle Creams / Spot Treatments

Via Google

It is never too early to purchase wrinkle creams!! I spent so long thinking it was weird, not even 30 and already concerned about wrinkles, but being proactive is key! It's impossible to get rid of them once you have them. Sure you can reduce their appearance—if you want to pay an arm and leg—but I find it more helpful to get on top of it before it's too late.

I personally have a wrinkle cream for my face and neck, but one specifically for my eyes that works best for me.

This is also the step to bring in spot treatments, like acne scars or dark spot treatments.

Step Five: Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize

Moisturize and then moisturize more. Dry skin is the worst. It doesn't feel good and ages you. Having skin that glows and feels soft makes you look and feel young.

Invest in what works for your skin. There are so many out there!

Just make sure it leaves your skin feeling good and it has an SPF in it as well to protect you from the sun's aging rays and sun damage!
